Utk Articulation Agreement

In addition to UTK, the Cleveland State`s Honors Program now has articulation agreements with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Pictured: Dr. Bill Seymour, CSCC President, CSCC Honor Program Alumni / current UTK Honors Sydnee McAbee student, and Dr. Wayne Davis, Acting Chancellor, UTK. There are also general agreements negotiated between the State of Cleveland and several four-year institutions. These are listed below. Non-remedial college level courses with no exact equivalent to UT can also be transferred with the designated LD (Lower Division Course Credit) or UD (Upper Division Course Credit). LD or UD courses used to meet certain program requirements must have the approval of the college where the major is located. College transfer students who do not have a course equivalency agreement will have their transcripts assessed individually. KNOXVILLE, N.Y. – Cleveland State Community College was recently the first community college to sign an articulation agreement between Honor and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK). The agreement was signed on Friday, November 16 at the UTK campus.

This agreement states that students who complete our Honors program and earn the Honors degree at Cleveland State University can automatically speak at Honors College at UTK if they wish to continue their specialization studies during their junior and senior years. To do this, students must meet all honors course requirements on their specific Honors track, write a capstone research project, and take an intensive leadership development course – while maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. Sydnee McAbee, a former CSCC student and graduate of Polk County High School, is the first student to use the agreement. During his first semester at UTK, McAbee studied pre-dental/evolutionary ecology and biology. “I had a really positive experience at CCSC and had a lot of opportunities through the honor program,” said McAbee. “It was a community I felt really involved in, and the UT campus is huge, but by joining the honor program, the campus feels a little smaller.” McAbee continued, “The SCCC really prepared me for UT, especially my synthesis project. I am now a research associate and would not have had the opportunity to do so if I had not done the Capstone project and had research experience at the SCCC. Dr. Victoria Bryan, Director of the Honours Program, said, “I am very excited about this agreement! Any agreement like this that we can get shows our students that the universities in our state recognize and respect the work they do as honors fellows at Cleveland State. In our school, Honors status is not just a recognition. This is something that students work very hard to maintain.

The program is not easy to complete. He urges our students to think deeply about their role as leaders and scientists on our campus and in our community. I appreciate giving our students insight into the fact that schools outside of Cleveland respect the work they do. In 2014-2015, we had a very important strategic plan to enhance our Honors program because we knew that the Tennessee Promise would bring us a wide variety of students, including very good students who wanted to use this program. Dr. Bryan has been leading this program for several years and is now robust, dynamic and exciting. Dr Wayne Davis, Acting Chancellor of UT, said: “I am very excited about the programme. We may hope to emulate this program with other community colleges in the future.

I think it`s great that we`ve been able to clarify that with the CCSC because we`re not that far apart. The idea that we would have students who would go through the CSCC and come here as part of our honor program is very exciting.
