Microsoft Products and Services Agreement (MPSA) is a transactional license agreement for commercial, government, and academic organizations with 250 or more users/devices. Microsoft Cloud Agreement (MCA) is a transactional licensing agreement for commercial and government organizations that want to outsource the management of their cloud services entirely through a cloud solution provider (CSP). A Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (Microsoft EA) was once the first port of call for large enterprises with more than 500 workstations. However, the complex 3-year contract that was once so popular is becoming obsolete. As cloud-based services like Azure and Office 365 become the norm, even large enterprises are changing the way they purchase products and services, looking for a more flexible Microsoft volume licensing option with the CSP program. Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement (MOSA) is a transactional license agreement for commercial, government, and academic organizations with one or more users/devices. MOSA is best suited for organizations that want to subscribe, enable, deploy, and manage cloud services through the Microsoft Online Subscription Program (MOSP) seamlessly and directly over the web. Local software and software assurance are not available through MOSA.
An EA certainly has a contract term of 3 years, but it`s actually billed in chunks, which means that not everything is due at the same time and so customers can budget for current expenses. In addition, Microsoft essentially runs an inventory of your number of seats throughout the year once a year to make sure you`ve paid for the right amount of usage. As a result of this “True Up”, contract prices may change with little notice. With a CSP, the pricing structure is very different. There are no surprise costs at any time of the year. You simply pay for the seats you use at any time and can remove or add new users as you wish. Open License is a transaction agreement for commercial, governmental, academic, and non-profit organizations. Software Assurance is optional. *This pension does not apply to State and Education Select Plus agreements or if the MPSA is not available on July 1, 2016. For a complete list of markets where mpSA is available, see the MPSA FAQ.
